STAY-C Program / Power of Story Overview

Part 1: STAY-C is a program offered through the Metro Homeless Youth Services department of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. This program offers a variety of resources for foster youth including independent living skills, case management/housing assistance (ages 18-22), and the opportunity to be a part of the Youth Leadership Council. This presentation is to relay information about our services to anyone that may benefit. The focus will mainly be on resources available to youth ages 14-17, with some information on resources for youth ages 18-22. The presentation will allow for any questions people may have about the services offered or the referral process, in order to make it as easy as possible for people to access them. Note: This program is available to families in Dakota County, Ramsey County, and Washington County.

Part 2: Power of Story’s vision is that young people who have experienced out-of-home placement have equal, consistent person-centered access to their history, stories, photos, and medical information. We call all of these various pieces “Life History,” and believe it is something that everyone deserves to have access to, but know that foster youth, adoptees, and others who have experienced out-of-home care often lack. We engage young people, caretakers, and professionals in the research and curation of life histories, provide training rooted in youth-centered best practices and advocate for increased awareness and quality implementation of life histories.
