Let's Journey Together
Foster parents, kinship providers and adoptive parents: We want you to be a part of our FTMN Family! Whether you are just starting out or well experienced in your journey, we would love to get to know you and serve your family. Register below and join the FTMN Family for access to our programs.
We are currently serving foster, kinship and adoptive families who live in Dakota County, MN (county or private agency). You must be licensed or in the process of getting licensed to join. If you are not licensed yet, attend an informational session through the county or an agency, or reach out to us and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction!
Connect Groups and Events
Relational
Support
Program
Sometimes the best thing for us is to simply talk with people who get it and understand what you are going through. That's why our Connect Groups and Events are a great opportunity to talk and build relationships with other foster parents who are in a similar journey to you. Connect Groups meet regularly at various locations. To find a Connect Group near you, check out our events page (please register so we can plan accordingly). We currently have a Foster Moms Connect Group (open to kinship & adoptive moms, too!). We hope to have a Foster Dads Connect Group coming soon.
Does your church or business have a great space for small group gatherings? We'd love to connect and discuss donating your space for our gatherings.
Mentorship Program
Relational
Support
Program
Our mentorship program gives you the opportunity to learn from someone who is a little further ahead in the journey than you, while also building a personal connection with someone who shares your heart for foster care. Gain practical advice, encouragement and support from a mentor who lives right in your area.
We currently offer three types of mentorship: foster mom program, foster dad program and foster parents program (couples).
Sign up to become a mentor or a mentee.
Request A Need
Tangible
Support
Program
It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes the community to do foster care. We understand that it is difficult to ask for help, but we also know that many tangible needs arise when you are caring for children in the foster care system. Many community members want to serve in this way, so consider giving them the opportunity to do so!
As you are getting licensed, accept a placement or are navigating your journey, please use our Request a Need form to ask for help. We will do our best to provide the tangible items you request, and will strive to expand the list of items available to request.
First Meal Fund
Tangible
Support
Program
We know how stressful it can be the first few days of having a new child enter your home. Between starting to establish relationships, gathering all the items they need, setting up visits & court hearings, arranging medical appointments and much more, it is often hard to find time to cook a meal and sit down as a family.
This is why we have our First Meal Fund program! Just let us know when you have accepted a new placement, and we will provide a meal for your family. This will often include selecting a gift card for take-out from one of our Community Partner's or a local restaurant.
To request a meal from our First Meal Fund, fill out our "Request a Need" form and specify "meal support".
